Esse 850 took overall victory at Caribbean Regatta

At the 38th St. Maarten Heinecken Regatta in the Eastern Caribbean, Jan van den Eynde’s Esse 850 „Wanna B.“ won the coveted St. Maarten Cup for Most Worthy Performance Overall.
“We won this trophy in 1999, and it feels wonderful to do it again,” said van den Eynde who has raced in the Heineken Regatta since its inception in 1980 and lost his previous boat to Hurricane Irma. He returned this year with his new boat „Wanna B.“, an Esse 850. “It moves surprisingly well and this was only the fourth time we had sailed it.”
After hurricane Irma struck the Caribbean in September 2017, the yacht community has now been able to meet on the island of St. Maarten again for the annual regatta event with its 16 classes and an international fleet of more than 100 boats.
