Esseboats Cup 2025
09. July 2025
A weekend full of excitement and strong racing: the Esseboats Cup in Thalwil once again showed why the Esse community is so unique. From moody Lake Zurich to perfect conditions with 10-22 knots of wind, everything was there - complemented by the best atmosphere on land.
The Esseboats Cup Thalwil offered sailing sport in all its facets last weekend. On Friday evening and Saturday, Lake Zurich showed its moody side. In summer temperatures, the wind remained irregular and did not allow any races.
Nevertheless, the atmosphere among the 16 crews was excellent. At the traditional Esse dinner on Saturday evening, sailors of all types met for a cosy evening with fine food, exciting conversations and high spirits. Particularly pleasing:
Gunnar Möller, who sails his Esse in Stockholm, travelled especially for the event and enjoyed the exchange with the entire Esse community.
On Sunday, patience and waiting were rewarded. In strong and sometimes gusty winds of between 10 and 22 knots, four exciting races were sailed. Jan Bachmann sailed confidently in the lead and deservedly secured the overall victory.
A big thank you to the Thalwil Association for the perfect organisation and to all participants for this weekend full of sporting competitions, strong winds and a great atmosphere. We are already looking forward to the next Esseboats Cup.
