Tight Race at the Esse 850 Swiss Championship
26. August 2025
With high-level performances, a challenging course and strong competition, the Swiss Championship for the Esse 850 International Class was the highlight of the 2025 regatta season for the active and ambitious Esseboats community. From August 22 – 24, the championship took place at the upper part of Lake Zurich.

Despite light winds, participants got drawn into a tough regatta, with three days of intense racing where sailors had to demonstrate outstanding tactical skills and upmost precision in boat handling.
18 teams lined up for a tight race that wasn’t decided until the final day. Jan Bachmann took the title with his SUI 155, closely followed by Nicola Fuso in the SUI 178 and Rainer Fröhlich in a SUI 133. The top three boats finished separated by only one point, which is proof of the high level of performance, consistency, and stability shown by the Esse 850 International Class.
